Come fish the beautiful waters of the Florida Keys. Endless miles of pristine flats surround the inshore waters of the ocean and backcountry areas. Centrally located in Marathon (mile marker 50) in the middle Keys, Magic Charters has easy access to many different areas in which to fish. Your trip will begin in the morning when you meet Captain Meyer. Depending on where you are staying as well as the weather, tides and the species of fish you want to catch, Captain Meyer will pick you up by truck in order to trailer to a selected launching point elsewhere along the Keys.

When you fish with a full time guide with 18 years of experience and use state-of-the-art equipment such as a Maverick Flats skiff, Loomis rods, and Abel and Shimano reels, your chances for a successful trip are very good. The Keys offer many different types of fish to target including: Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Redfish, Trout, Sharks, and Cobia. You can fish with light spinning tackle or try your skills with a fly rod.

Be sure to bring your camera and plenty of film. While gliding quietly across the clear shallow water stalking your prey, you just may be visited by a graceful Eagle Ray or two and perhaps a pod of wild, playful dolphins.

Magic Charters accommodates up to two anglers. Charters for larger groups can be arranged by adding additional boats (up to ten).

Captain Meyer has lived in the Florida Keys for 28 years, 18 of which he has spent as a full time flats guide. He grew up in central Florida, and has been fishing the waters of the Keys since 1965. He has guided anglers from all around the world, with experience levels from novice to expert, and representing all ages, youth to senior. Having two teenaged children of his own, Captain Meyer works well with young folks. He is also an accomplished teacher and will be glad to work with you on your casting techniques, on the boat or on the dock before your trip.

Captain Meyer has won numerous tournaments, was featured this year by Blair Wiggins on the Sunshine Network's Addictive Fishing show, and will soon be included in a book about fishing by author Ron Silverman. Gear provided on the charter includes fly and/or spin rods, reels, bait, tackle, cooler and ice (bring your own lunch and beverages), and hand-tied custom flies. With the best equipment on the market at your disposal, you can be confidence of your ability to catch the big ones.

When you come will determine the kind of clothes you need. Bring a light jacket in the winter, and shorts in the summer. A light long sleeve shirt or pants in the summer is advisable. Polarized sunglasses are a must, preferably with amber or brown colored lenses. Your lunches can be ordered fresh for you from the local Deli, or you can simply pack your own.

Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit can be caught year round with other resident species. This chart is my preferred months in order for each fish.
